Claridge house - gold coast, chicago, il

If you’re ever staying in Chicago and need a cute little experience place to stay, Claridge House has got you covered.

I found this classy, boutique hotel through Airbnb and was delighted that it seemed like a fun, yet quiet and intimate experience.

It was exactly that!

I can honestly say staying at Claridge House felt like a personalized experience without the craziness.

Here is a video of what it looked like from the inside:

Right away upon arrival, I was captured by the design of the beautiful lobby. It felt like I was stepping back in time with the black and white floors, plants, and contrasting colors of furniture. To my right was a small bar, and to my left was a seating area. I immediately knew this would be a nice place for me to work during the day or get some drinks at night.

As I walked in further, I heard pop and RnB bops playing in the background which already put me in a happy mood. I was then greeted with a wonderful attitude from the front desk employee.

She made sure to make me feel welcome and answered any questions I had with patience. She even recommended the best room available on the 23rd floor - away from the elevators and at the very corner so that I could get the most quiet spot.

As someone who was staying on my own in a big city for two days, it felt nice to feel like someone wanted to make sure I would be taken care of.

On my way up, the elevator had a cool design with large mirrors!

As I entered the 23rd floor with excitement, it did not let me down.

  • My room had a wonderful view of the neighborhood outside my window.

  • The sheets were clean (I always do a bedbug check upon arrival because no one likes those uninvited critters).

  • The bathroom was a clean and modern design with a lighted mirror.

  • There was a tall mirror next to the bed so that I could document my fun little outfit checks before heading out.

  • I was able to get a queen-sized bed for two nights for a total cost of $211.01.

  • Checkout after my stay would be at noon, which gave me an extra hour compared to most hotels.

It was also nice to know that breakfast was served at the lobby bar, available from 7am to 1pm (food stops serving at noon) where they made a range of coffee and breakfast foods. As someone who sleeps in late, the time range was nice!

For the cherry on top, I visited Chicago during the “Blue Moon” so I was able to catch the beautiful full moon from right out my window.

I love watching the moon. I lit up with joy when I noticed it outside my window.

This was during my last night at the hotel.

Thank you, Chicago. Thank you, Claridge House.

Overall, I cannot stress about how the location was perfect!

It felt lively, safe, and beautiful.

Lots of people walking their dogs, chatting outside, running, or just walking.

Located in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast, there were many restaurants, shops, and exciting things to do within walking distance.

I looked forward to the bright, quiet morning walks.

As if I didn’t say it enough already, make sure to book your stay at Claridge House during your next Chicago visit.

Getting a sprinkle of the local experience made it worthwhile!
